Eli Cohen’s message he left the world

A former Syrian prisoner said that he discovered the last message Eli Cohen left the world. By David Lev Flash 90A Kurdish activist from Iraq, who was formerly a prisoner in a Syrian jail, told journalists that he had apparently been in the same prison cell that once held Israeli hero Eli Cohen – and that he had seen a sort of last will and testament by Cohen scrawled on the wall of the cell. When Assad falls will the WMD be discovered?

When Assad falls will the WMD be discovered?

By Uwe Siemon-Netto. Ten years after 9/11, one captivating thought keeps crossing my mind: When the Assad tyranny in Syria finally collapses, will George W. Bush be vindicated? Will evidence be found that Saddam Hussein did actually possess mobile bio-weapons labs, and had them driven across the border ahead of allied forces advancing on Baghdad. From my own research in the late 1990s, I strongly suspect this to be the case. Senior European civil servants, military and intelligence officers and especially scientists familiar with Saddam’s weapons of mass destruction programs predicted that this was going to happen. They told me…

Bashar’s Samson Option

Bashar’s Samson Option

By Avi Lipkin In a recent news report on Kol Israel Radio (July 9th, 2011) it was reported that over 60,000 Syrians have been detained by the Syrian government for questioning and probably torture. Much of the world is distressed to say the least at daily reports of army massacres of Syrian civilians, many of which are unarmed. And the question asked is: How much longer can Bashar Assad survive? Another question is: How long can the Alawite Shi'ite leadership survive? And what will come in its place? There are three approaches to Syria, in my opinion: Israel's approach, Turkey's…

US warship in Black Sea as Syria on the boil

US warship in Black Sea as Syria on the boil

By M K Bhadrakumar Seldom it is that the Russian Foreign Ministry chooses a Sunday to issue a formal statement. Evidently, something of extreme gravity arose for Moscow to speak out urgently. The provocation was the appearance of a United States guided missile cruiser in the Black Sea for naval exercises with Ukraine. The USS Monterrey cruiser equipped with the AEGIS air defense system is taking part in joint Ukrainian-US exercises, Sea Breeze 2011. There is nothing extraordinary about a US-Ukraine naval exercise. Last year, too, an exercise took place. But, as Moscow posed, "While leaving aside the unsettled issue…

Syria has built three more nuclear facilities

Syria has built three more nuclear facilities

The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed that Syria has three nuclear installations, in addition to one that was destroyed several years ago by an unknown party. The London-based Arabic-language Al-Hayat newspaper on Sunday published communications between IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon which stated, among other things, that the UN agency had confirmed a report by a US agency that the facility destroyed in 2007 – allegedly by Israeli planes – was linked to three other sites in Syria. The communications do not name those sites, but they do say that Syria is clearly in violation…

The Christian predicament in Syria and Egypt

The Christian predicament in Syria and Egypt

By Avi Lipkin The last few months have seen an historical earthquake or volcano if you will in the Midde East. Islamic countries, some with sizeable Christian minorities are witnessing revolutions which on the surface seem to display a desire by the peoples of the these countries for a genuine democracy, something only to be found outside of the Middle East except for Israel. The story begins with an economic trigger of $147 a barrel for oil in 2008 leading to the near collapse of the world economy. With this near collapse of the world economy, the barrel of oil…
