Unesco experts will inspect cultural heritage sites in mid-May.    Israel and the Palestinians agreed on Tuesday to renewed involvement by Unesco, the United Nations cultural agency, in the Old City of Jerusalem. The agreement was a small but significant breakthrough in the often highly politicized workings of the agency.

Where should President Obama visit when he goes to Israel?

Where should President Obama visit when he goes to Israel?

Moshe Phillips Just hours after the announcement that President Obama would visit Israel, the U.S. ambassador in Tel Aviv, Daniel Shapiro, gave several interviews to Israeli media. To Israeli Army radio Shapiro said “We have a very complex agenda about Iran, Syria and the need to get Israel and the Palestinians back to the negotiating table, so it’s important to begin as fast as possible.” Perhaps before Team Obama attempts to compel Israel to create a second hostile Islamist terror statelet along yet another border (to match the Gazan terror statelet) they should tour around a little bit, you know,…

Consequently, the Palestinian…

Blood libel Palestinian myth

Blood libel Palestinian myth

By MOSHE DANN Because land on which most settlements are built is not agriculturally useful, Arabs did not claim ownership until recently. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s assertion that Jews would not be allowed to build on private Palestinian land is a long-standing policy endorsed by Israeli governments and the judicial system. The question, however, is what constitutes “private Palestinian land” and who decides what is and what is not private Palestinian land? If it is true that Jews are stealing land, this violates Jewish and Israeli laws and values and justifies calls for boycotts, sanctions and even the elimination of…

The water libel

Today is International Water Day, as good a time as any to debunk the mendacious "water libel" that says that Israel is stealing water from the PA Arabs. By Mark Langfan The IWA Report debunks the BDS (boycott-divest-sanction) myth that “Israel is stealing West Bank water from the Palestinians,” In fact, the IWA Report provides documentary and graphic evidence that the Palestinians have ““stolen”” water from Israel in direct, and constant “breach” of the Oslo Accords. The IWA Report is full of clear and colorful graphics which illustrate many of the West Bank Water issues. For example, the graphic immediately…

An administration ready to blame Israel for everything . . . including anti-semitism

An administration ready to blame Israel for everything . . . including anti-semitism

By Jonathan Tobin The ground is fast sinking beneath the feet of President Obama's Jewish defenders. While the president is trying to raise money from Jewish donors by patting himself on the back as Israel's greatest friend in the White House, the Secretary of Defense has now made it clear that he sees the Jewish state as responsible for the isolation it faces. Equally as egregious is the fact that Howard Gutman, Obama's ambassador to Belgium, told an audience this week he thinks Israel's policy toward the Palestinians is responsible for the creation of a new kind of anti-Semitism that…

Clinton warns UNESCO of loss of US funds

US secretary of state says UN cultural agency could lose tens of millions of dollars if it agrees to admit Palestine before Israeli-Palestinian peace deal is concluded US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday that the UN cultural agency UNESCO should "think again" on plans to vote on Palestinian membership, noting that such a move could cause the United States to cut funds for the organization. Clinton, speaking to reporters in the Dominican Republic where she was on an official visit, said she found it "inexplicable" that UNESCO would consider moving ahead on a Palestinian vote while the…

Israel army prepares for possible clash in West Bank

Ron Ben Yishai Israel's security forces are on high alert ahead of Friday's Palestinian statehood bid in the UN and are preparing for all scenarios: Aerial photography balloons, helicopters dropping stink bombs and teams that will upload videos to Facebook – these are just some of the measures taken by the IDF in preparation of the possible aftermath of the bid. While armed forces and intelligence assessments suggest that UN bid will go ahead with relative calm, the IDF is taking no chances. The IDF's readiness and state of alertness for clashes with massive Palestinian crowds, should they present themselves,…
