Flotilla activist is about to give up

Norwegian, Swedish Gaza-bound flotilla activists to announce their return home after Greek interception of ships, while most US, Canadian activists head home. US passenger: We will be back Aviel Magnezi

Norwegian Gaza-bound flotilla activists are expected to hold a press conference Friday morning in Norway to announce their decision to retract and make their way back home.

Another press conference will be held Thursday in Sweden with some 20 Swedish representatives from the Gaza-bound flotilla.

Only four Swedes remained in Greece to try are pressure the local government to call off the blockade and permit them to head towards the Gaza Strip, according to Jewish-Swedish flotilla spokesman Dan Israel.

Despite the circumstances causing the activists to return home, the spokesman said they are not at all disappointed and happy with their contribution. He added that the important thing was that Israel allowed supplies to be passed along to Gaza.

Israel will be spending 1 billion on the Iron Domes

An Israeli missile is launched from the Iron Dome missile system near Ashke…

Israel plans to invest $1 billion in the development and production of batteries for its Iron Dome rocket interception system, a top Israeli defence official said in an interview published Monday. Defence Ministry director-general Major General Udi Shani told the daily Haaretz newspaper that five countries have already expressed interest in the system, which was successfully deployed during a rise in rocket fire from Gaza in early April.

But Shani, in his first interview since his appointment in January 2010, warned that the system’s capacity must be put in perspective.

“We need to adjust expectations in relation to Iron Dome,” he told Haaretz.

The reunification of Gaza and the West Bank

What Does “the Reunification of Gaza and the West Bank” Really Mean? By Cheryl Lewin, Chair AFSI Chicago

As a concerned US citizen and in my capacity as the Chicago co-chair of AFSI/Americans for a Safe Israel (

Please read this statement from Robert Serry, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace (he is from the Netherlands). He is applauding and in favor of what will be the destruction the State of Israel – the entire State of Israel (and there is no differentiating between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem).

Supporting Hamas and Fatah and an alliance between the two is dangerous to all of us.

Below I have included a link where you can contact your congressional representatives and senators.

Our tax dollars must stop supporting the UN and their funding of terrorist regimes.

Israel’s army prepares for war on all fronts

Military holds drill aimed at preparing forces for all-out war against Hezbollah, Syria, Hamas; exercise did not include soldiers, live-fire.
The exercise did not include soldiers or live-fire exercises, but was held to drill commanders and their decisions in the event of a large-scale war on multiple fronts.

The exercise was the first overseen by new Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz. It was organized by Maj.-Gen. Gershon Hacohen, head of the IDF Colleges.

The IDF stressed that the drill was part of the military’s routine exercise program and included all of its various branches – ground, air and navy – with an emphasis on interoperability and operational continuity.

The scenarios simulated during the drill included a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, sparked by a terrorist attack overseas as well as the involvement of Syria, Hamas and Iran.

“The drill is part of our need to retain a level of readiness,” Gantz said.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak and members of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee visited the base where the exercise was held, even though the political echelon did not play an active role in the war games.

Facebook battle continues over third intifada page

by Chana Ya’ar The Internet is heating up over Facebook’s refusal to block a fan page calling for a Third Intifada against Israel.

An email campaign to pressure the popular social networking site into removing the page has been mounted by pro-Israel groups as well as private individuals. All have expressed increasing concern over the potential danger to Israeli citizens that may result from the page, which clearly promotes violence against Jews in Israel.

One woman was killed and a second person is still in critical condition, with 50 others wounded after terrorists planted a bomb filled with ball bearings and sharp objects next to a busy bus stop last Wednesday across from the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem. The attack came the week after the heinous murder of 5 members of the Fogel family, and during a week in which long-range Grad Katyusha missiles were fired from Gaza at Ashdod, Ashkelon, Be’er Sheva, Yavneh and just south of Rishon LeTzion. Numerous other short-range Kassam rockets exploded in Jewish communities throughout the western Negev, as Gaza terrorists continue to escalate their attacks on southern Israel.

Southern Israel got Iron Dome Defense on Sunday

Arutz Sheva reporter Kobi Finkler reported that the IDF will be installing two operative stations of the Iron Dome anti-missile system in southern Israel tomorrow, three months earlier than the date set for their operation.

The IDF reported: “This week we held several trials to check the system’s preparedness and their success has resulted in our being able to operate the system, starting tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Gazan terrorist organizations held a meeting on Saturday evening and announced that they are willing to agree to stop launching missiles towards Israel if Israel agrees to stop its air and artillery attacks on Gaza.

They did not allude to the many such offers they have broken nor to the fact that Israel’s military actions are retaliatory and preventive in nature, a result of the barrages of mortar fire, rockets and even several grad missiles that reached Beer Sheva, Ashkelon and Ashdod last week.

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood? Gaza’s Hamas? Lebanon’s Hezbollah? Dalal Mughrabi proves Fatah is No Different!

by Moshe Phillips

Much ink has been spilled over the last several weeks over questions about the Muslim Brotherhood. How powerful is it? How extreme is it? How dangerous is the group? Are they sponsors of terrorism?

No doubt now that Mubarak has relinquished power these questions will continue to be debated. And let’s be clear, these are vitally important questions for Egypt, for the U.S. for Israel and for the entire Middle East.

But, the things being asked about Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood must be asked about Fatah as well. They should have been asked a long time ago.

Fatah is the largest component of the PLO. It was led by Yasser Arafat until his death in 2004. It won 62% of the votes in the 2005 Palestinian National Authority elections. It has socialist orientation and has Observer Party status in the Socialist International. Fatah is the Palestinian entity that the U.S. State Department groomed for leadership of the Arabs in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) beginning in 1988 when Arafat supposedly renounced terrorism.

We are expected to believe that Fatah is different. We are told to believe that the PLO has changed. There are just a few problems with that — the big one being that they really have not changed.

The Palestine National Covenant continues to call for the destruction of Israel and Zionism.

Perhaps there are authentic Palestinian moderates somewhere out there, but they have yet to show themselves.

Solidarity for jihad terrorists

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

Showing solidarity with terrorists, the Palestinian Authority has charged Israel with “attacking our people” by targeting five Gaza Islamic Jihad and Popular Resistance Committees terrorists who were preparing to fire missiles on southern Israel over the weekend.

The PRC was also involved with the 2006 attack on a western Negev checkpoint at a Gaza crossing in which terrorists kidnapped IDF soldier Gilat Shalit. Shalit is thought to be alive, but his fate and condition are not known.

Although the de facto Hamas government in Gaza is sworn to the destruction of Israel while the Palestinian Authority ostensibly refutes terror and is pledged to halt incitement, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Al-Maliki condemned the strike on the terrorists as an “attack against our people.”

Israel accused of ‘snubbing’ EU for banning Yom Kippur Visit

European Union foreign ministers are upset over Israel’s banning their entry to Gaza hours before Yom Kippur, and they have declined alternative dates. The 25 hour fast, the holiest day in the Jewish year, begins shortly before sundown Friday.

“The whole country is paralyzed and the airport is closed,” a spokesman in the Israeli Foreign Ministry explained to the London Telegraph. “We told them that it was impossible to hold meetings on Friday morning and that no one would be available. We suggested alternative dates, all of which they refused.”

Israel charged the five EU ministers with being ”insensitive.” The planned visit by officials from Spain, France, Britain, Germany and Italy was intended to deal with diplomatic developments in the Middle East, and aid to Gaza.

Egypt prevented 190 antiaircraft missiles found in Sinai

Arsenal including antitank charges intended for Gaza discovered by police in peninsula Ali Waked

Egypt has prevented a shipment of antiaircraft missiles and explosives from entering Gaza. Security forces uncovered stores of ammunition in the northern Sinai Peninsula, probably intended to be smuggled into the Strip.

Palestinian news agency Maan reported that Egyptian police exposed a hidden arms arsenal containing explosives, in a desolate area near at the center of the peninsula.
