In 1939, in wake of a four year Arab uprising, the High Commissioner of the British Mandate issued a “White Paper” severely limiting the number of Jews permitted to enter Israel, in an effort to pacify the Arab leadership’s demand for a halt to Jewish immigration. This camp was used to hold “illegal” immigrants known as Ma’apilim in Hebrew. From 1946, similar detention camps were established in Cyprus to which another 50,000 Ma’apilim were held.

My husband and I have been with the Battalion of Deborah on their tours for the last five years. We are planning to go again on this tour. We love being with the group touring Israel and learning more each time of our Hebraic roots and God’s chosen people. What a blessing these tours have been and how the richness of our lives has increased with each tour. If we can only make one trip a year or in a lifetime, this is the trip we choose. An excellent tour guide has not only become a personal friend but a history of Israel teacher as well. The abundance of wonderful foods both in the hotels and Kibutz where we have stayed , have our mouths watering even today. Getting to know the people of the land and understanding their ongoing struggle for survival calls us as believers grafted in through grace to take a stand at every turn that we encounter those who would oppose their right to the land that God gave them as an eternal covenant. If you are only mildly interested in Israel you will be forever changed into a lover of Israel after experiencing it through the eyes of this Battalion of Deborah tour.
