'Israel is the standard bearer of Satan'
by

Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that Israel was the standard bearer of Satan and the Jewish state would soon fall apart, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported Saturday. The agency quoted Ahmadinejad as he spoke at a religious conference and did not elaborate on what he meant by Satan. Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, however, Iran has regularly referred to the United States as "the Great Satan." "The Zionist regime is the standard bearer of invasion, occupation and Satan," he said, predicting Israel's eventual demise. "When the philosophy behind the establishment of a regime is in question, it is not unlikely that it will find itself on a course of decline and dissolution." In other news, the elite Iranian Revolutionary Guards said they would not bow to pressure and threatened to "punch" the US, in their first response to Washington's plan to list them as a terrorist organization, newspapers reported Saturday. Local newspapers in the Iranian capital of Teheran quoted Revolutionary Guards leader Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi saying that he could understand Washington's ire towards the group because of their recent successes against the US. "America will receive a heavier punch from the guards in the future," ... more »

Syria reportedly gets Russian SA-22s

Syria has begun delivery of the first batch of anti-aircraft missile and gun range land-based Pantsyr-S1E defense systems (SA-22 E in NATO terminology), the Web site of Russian newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta reported Saturday. The report, based on wires from the arms-related branch of the Russian Tass news agency, cited a previously signed agreement between Syria and Russia for the purchase of 50 sets of the system for a total of about $900 million. According to other sources, however, the signed deal included only 34-36 systems. Army Radio reported that Russian military officials agreed to the deal only after Syria vowed that the systems would not be resold or distributed to a third country, such as Lebanon or Iran. But in May, the reputable Jane's Defense Weekly reported that Syria agreed to transfer ten of the systems to Iran. the past year, Israel accused Russia of supplying the Lebanese Shi'ite organization Hizbullah with weapons systems which were later used against Israeli tanks during the Second Lebanon War. The systems allegedly used by Hizbullah were older than the SA-22 E, which is a new development based on older SA-19 and SA-N-11 systems. Israeli government 'flag of Satan': Iran's Ahmadinejad
by

on Sat 18 Aug 2007 03:18 PM EDT
Tehran - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday resumed his ant-Israeli rhetoric by terming the Jewish government the "flag of Satan.""The Zionist regime (Israel) is the flag of Satan and flag-holder for aggression and occupation," Ahmadinejad said at a religious meeting in Tehran. Iran has for the last 27 years branded the United States the "Great Satan" due to the alleged US enmity for Islam and Muslims and further charged Washington of being the main sponsor of what Tehran calls "Zionist crimes" in the Middle East. The term "flag of Satan" links Israel to the US and their joint policies in the Arabic world. Ahmadinejad once again predicted the imminent collapse of Israel. Since he assumed the presidency in August 2005, Ahmadinejad has several times launched verbal attacks against Israel, including a call for the eradication of Israel from the Islamic world, the relocation of the Jewish state to Europe and North Korea. He has also called the Holocaust a "fairy tale."

Israel to give up Temple Mount?

on Sat 18 Aug 2007 02:49 PM EDT
By Aaron Klein JERUSALEM -- Palestinian negotiators drafting an agreement behind the scenes with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office have made clear they will not accept any final peace deal with Israel unless the Jewish state forfeits the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, WND has learned. According to a report in Israel's Yediot Aharonot daily yesterday, Olmert is willing to discuss joint Israeli-Palestinian control over the Temple Mount complex. The report didn't state the positions of the Palestinian side on the issue. A chief Palestinian negotiator, speaking to WND on condition his name be withheld, said yesterday, "there can be no agreement with Israel unless we get complete sovereignty of the Mount. Once Palestinian control over the [Temple Mount] is fixed, then we will make assurances for Jewish visits to the site." The chief negotiator said aides from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization have been hammering out the parameters of a final status agreement for presentation in November at a U.S.-backed international summit regarding the Middle East. Issues already discussed between Israel and the Palestinians reportedly include the division of parts of Jerusalem and debates regarding permanent borders between Israel and the PA. By IVAN SEKRETAREV, Fighter jets streaked through the air as Russian and Chinese forces held their first joint maneuvers on Russian land Friday in a demonstration of their growing military ties and a shared desire to counter U.S. global clout. The war games in the southern Ural Mountains involved some 6,000 troops from Russia and China along with a handful of soldiers from four ex-Soviet Central Asian nations that are part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a regional group dominated by Moscow and Beijing. The drills coincided with a massive Russian air force exercise in which dozens of Russian strategic bombers ranged far over the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans.President Vladimir Putin, Chinese leader Hu Jintao and other leaders of the SCO nations attended the exercise, which followed their summit Thursday in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek. The summit concluded with a communique that sounded like a thinly veiled warning to the United States to stay away from the strategically placed, resource-rich region."Stability and security in Central Asia are best ensured primarily through efforts taken by the nations of the region on the basis of the existing regional associations," the statement said.Friday's military exercise involved dozens of aircraft and hundreds of armored vehicles which ... more »

Homeland Security Enlists Clergy to Quell Public Unrest if Martial Law Ever Declared
by

on Sat 18 Aug 2007 02:37 PM EDT
Could martial law ever become a reality in America? Some fear any nuclear, biological or chemical attack on U.S. soil might trigger just that. KSLA News 12 has discovered that the clergy would help the government with potentially their biggest problem: Us. Charleton Heston's now-famous speech before the National Rifle Association at a convention back in 2000 will forever be remembered as a stirring moment for all 2nd Amendment advocates. At the end of his remarks, Heston held up his antique rifle and told the crowd in his Moses-like voice, "over my cold, dead hands." While Heston, then serving as the NRA President, made those remarks in response to calls for more gun control laws at the time, those words live on. Heston's declaration captured a truly American value: An over-arching desire to protect our freedoms. But gun confiscation is exactly what happened during the state of emergency following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, along with forced relocation. U.S. Troops also arrived, something far easier to do now, thanks to last year's elimination of the 1878 Posse Comitatus act, which had forbid regular U.S. Army troops from policing on American soil. If martial law were enacted ... more »

China to install sensors along NAFTA highway
by

on Sat 18 Aug 2007 02:31 PM EDT
By Jerome R. Corsi Radio sensing stations to track traffic and cargo up and down the I-35 NAFTA Superhighway corridor are being installed by Communist China, operating through a port operator subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa, in conjunction with Lockheed Martin and the North America's SuperCorridor Coalition, Inc. The idea is that RFID chips placed in containers where manufactured goods are shipped from China will be able to be tracked to the Mexican ports on the Pacific where the containers are unloaded onto Mexican trucks and trains for transportation on the I-35 NAFTA Superhighway to destinations within the United States. NASCO, a trade association based in Dallas, Texas, has teamed with Lockheed Martin to use RFID tracking technology Lockheed Martin developed for the U.S. Department of Defense's projects in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as at U.S. military stations throughout the world. China has a central position in applying the RFID technology on I-35, given Hutchinson Port Holdings' 49 percent ownership of Savi Networks, the Lockheed Martin subsidiary that will get the job of placing the sensors all up and down the NAFTA Superhighway. Nathan Hansen, a Minnesota attorney, has archived on his blog a series of NASCO documents obtained under ... more »

Congress tells Bush: Back off SPP agenda
by

By Jerome R. Corsi Twenty-two members of the U.S. House of Representatives – 21 Republicans and a Democrat – are urging President Bush to back off his North American integration efforts when he attends the third summit meeting on the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America next week in Montebello, Quebec. They make it clear that continuing any such agenda at this point would be disregarding growing apprehension in Congress about the plans. "As you travel to Montebello, Canada later this month for a summit with your Canadian and Mexican counterparts, we want you to be aware of serious and growing concerns in the U.S. Congress about the so-called Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) you launched with these nations in 2005," the letter said. While the letter authors express their support for the president's "desire to promote good relations with our neighbors to the north and south," they are worried about the secretive manner in which SPP is being conducted and concerned it "may actually undermine our security and sovereignty." "For instance," the letter said, "measures that would make it easier to move goods and people across borders could have the effect of further weakening this country's ability to ... more »

Federal ID plan raises privacy concerns

By Eliott C. McLaughlin (CNN) -- Americans may need passports to board domestic flights or to picnic in a national park next year if they live in one of the states defying the federal Real ID Act. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says there are no plans for a federal database of drivers' information. The act, signed in 2005 as part of an emergency military spending and tsunami relief bill, aims to weave driver's licenses and state ID cards into a sort of national identification system by May 2008. The law sets baseline criteria for how driver's licenses will be issued and what information they must contain. The Department of Homeland Security insists Real ID is an essential weapon in the war on terror, but privacy and civil liberties watchdogs are calling the initiative an overly intrusive measure that smacks of Big Brother.More than half the nation's state legislatures have passed or proposed legislation denouncing the plan, and some have penned bills expressly forbidding compliance.Several states have begun making arrangements for the new requirements -- four have passed legislation applauding the measure -- but even they may have trouble meeting the act's deadline. The cards would be mandatory for all "federal purposes," which ... more »

A lack of federal funding for Real ID leaves states in the lurch
by

By Alice Lipowicz - Two years after enactment of the Real ID Act to create national driver’s license standards, the long ride toward implementation has been slow and bumpy, and the road ahead still has some potholes to dodge. Recent developments suggest that deployment of the controversial Real ID national identification program still faces significant obstacles related to its $11 billion cost and its privacy and security risks. Legislatures in 17 states have taken action opposing the act, according to the American Civil Liberties Union. What’s more, the Senate recently took a stand against funding it. An amendment submitted by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) to provide $300 million toward Real ID implementation costs failed July 26. Real ID “is a massive, unfunded federal mandate on the states,” Alexander said July 15 on the Senate floor. “I believe Congress has the responsibility to find the money to pay for this or repeal it.” The $300 million would have covered a small fraction of the estimated $11 billion price tag of Real ID over five years. So far, Congress has allocated $40 million. Congress passed the Real ID Act of 2005 with little public debate. The goal was to strengthen national security ... more »

Still looking for the Black Regiment

Chuck Baldwin In this column on July 24 (http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20070724.html ) I asked readers to help me locate The Black Regiment. These are patriot-preachers who have "understanding of the times, to know what [America] ought to do." (To borrow from I Chron. 12:32.)Specifically, The Black Regiment is comprised of pastors who believe in constitutional government. They support the principles contained in the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. Their loyalties lie with Biblical and historic American principles, not political parties or politicians. They understand the importance of national sovereignty and independence. They oppose any attempt to merge the United States into any kind of regional or hemispheric government, whether it be political or commercial. They oppose preemptive wars of aggression. They refuse to surrender their individual liberties under the rubric of "security," which means they oppose warrantless wiretaps and eavesdropping and any other encroachment of our freedoms.Black Regiment preachers are not pantywaists. They are not controlled by church committees or boards. They preach the Word of God without fear or favor. They call a spade a spade. They cannot be bought or bullied.I am happy to say that I have received nearly 500 responses to my initial appeal. However, ... more »

Precursors To Martial Law? Recession, Bank Run, Strike On Iran Or Terror Attack Could Signal Green Light For State Of Emergency

Economic Collapse As Precursor To Open Plan For Martial Law? Many fear recession, bank run, strike on Iran or terror attack could signal green light for state of emergencyPaul Joseph Watson. The open announcement of a program on behalf of the federal government that is recruiting clergy to aid the authorities in "quelling dissent," gun confiscation and forced relocation in the event of martial law has many worried that the current economic plunge could be the precursor for a state of emergency in America. A KSLA 12 news report out of Louisiana confirmed a story we originally broke last year - that religious leaders are being enrolled into a federal program that trains them how to "quell dissent" and make people obey the government in the aftermath of a declaration of martial law following a mass casualty terror attack or a natural disaster. A convergence of events logically leads to a conclusion that only the most naive observer would deny - that an upcoming crisis may be in the pipeline that will signal the green light for such provisions to be enacted. World stock markets continued to plunge today despite billions in liquidity being pumped into the system by governments ... more »

Does God care what He's called?
by

on Sat 18 Aug 2007 12:36 PM EDT
The very first news story I read yesterday morning was about a Dutch Roman Catholic bishop who is advocating that Christians rename "God" to "Allah." Bishop Martinus Petrus Maria Muskens, (also known as "Tiny") told Dutch TV: "Allah is a very beautiful word for God. Shouldn't we all say that from now on we will call God 'Allah'?" My mouth was still hanging open when I read the last part of his statement: "God doesn't care what we call Him." If one doesn't believe that God is real, then it really doesn't matter what name one chooses. It's like naming your 6-foot tall invisible white rabbit. You can call him "Harvey." Or you can name him "Peter Cottontail." He won't object either way – since he isn't real. But if you try to rename your friend Fred from down the street, he may not be so pleased about being called George. Because Fred is a real person, you wouldn't think about calling him George simply because somebody else likes that name better. Because God is as real as you or I, it isn't up to us to rename Him like He was a stray basset hound. God has many names; ... more »

'Amero' makes coinage debut

By Jerome R. Corsi-A commemorative amero coin Parody coin designer Daniel Carr has launched production of an "amero" coin which he is marketing to coin dealers and collectors. Blogger Daniel Taylor called attention to Carr's "amero" parody, commenting, "Pictures of the supposedly designed and coined 'amero' have been making the rounds on the Internet lately, causing a stir among those aware of real proposals for a common currency between the United States, Canada, and Mexico." Carr notes on his website that, "These 'private-issue fantasy pattern' ameros will be struck as an annual series (until such time as it is no longer legal to do so), starting in the later part of 2007." "I think of myself as a sculptor," Carr told WND. "I am a professional coin designer and I specialize in the design and the engraving of the coin. The goal is to make a coin that is interesting and attractive." "Like any artist I have to survive by selling my work," Carr said. "I have been reading about the amero and I started asking myself what I would come up with if I was in charge of minting the amero coin for the North American Union." In 1999, ... more »
