If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. This past week, Rabbi Eliyahu Leon Levi said the following, ''We are on the brink of redemption, and a great war is coming. Whoever doesn't prepare himself spiritually is at great risk. A person must turn to G-d in prayer and cry and confess his wrongdoings, and rectify his ways.' Arutz Sheva, April 6, 2007
King Solomon spoke the same words to the Jewish people thousands of years ago in 2 Chronicles 7:14-15. Our G-d is a merciful G-d, and he has provided a way for us to return to Him, be cleansed from our sins, and be saved from our enemies. The way of the Lord Scripture says, 'If we humble ourselves and pray, and we turn from our wicked ways, then and only then will our G-d hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land.
Who will stand in the Breach before the Lord?
The prophet Ezekiel lived during such a time when Israel sinned grievously against her G-d and would not listen to the word of the Lord, would not repent, would not acknowledge their wrongdoings, and rectify their ways. However, before the Lord brought judgment and captivity upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Judah He said:
'And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the breach before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none. Therefore have I poured out Mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their own way have I brought upon their heads, saith the Lord G-D.' Ezekiel 22:30-31
During the time of Ezekiel when the Lord found none who would stand in the breach before Him and repent for the land of Israel He sent the pagan Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar to destroy Jerusalem, the temple, and take all Israel into captivity in Babylon for 70 years.
Remember, the Lord said He sought for a man among the Israelites, among the leaders, the prophets, the priests, the judges, the army, the scribes, and He found NONE, NOT ONE!
Such was the spiritual state of Israel during the days of Ezekiel. Will the Lord find it any different in our day and our life time? Has our G-d changed, that He will not judge today what He judged more than 2,500 years ago? Are we not a nation exactly like the one that existed during the days of Ezekiel?
The Lord is crying out to our people to read the Psalms for it is in them we find the root source of our sin against Him.
I am Your servant; give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies.
עַבְדְּךָ-אָנִי הֲבִינֵנִי;
וְאֵדְעָה, עֵדֹתֶיךָ
It is time for the Lord to act,
 For they have made void Your law.

Peace, Peace but there is no peace!
Two years ago Israelis were told by our leaders if we give up Gaza there will be peace. What has been the result? The result has been the rise to power of Hamas, who declare daily they will never recognize Israel's right to exist, and who declare openly there will never be peace until Israel is annihilated.
What has been the result of the disengagement and giving up Gaza to Hamas and Fatah? The result is rockets being fired into Israeli cities on a daily basis, violence, terror, and kidnappings of Israeli soldiers.
Our leaders promised, 'peace, peace,' yet there is no peace!
Now the Saudi's have come forth with a 'take or leave it ultimatum,' for peace. Israel either agrees to willingly commit suicide or there will be war.
Think for a moment and contrast what our government and leaders are proposing today and what would Israel's response be to the Arab Saudi Plan if we had a leader like King David of old?
The difference is staggering. Interestingly, we are speaking about the same land, the Jewish people and nation who have the same G-d as King David. So what is the difference today from the time of King David? The difference is in the heart of our leaders today. We have leaders who do not know the G-d of Israel, who do not believe in Him or in His covenant promises.
King David was a man after G-d's heart. He knew his G-d, believed He would give him victory over his enemies, and above all he believed His covenant promises regarding the land of Israel belonging to the Jewish people forever. King David's faith came forth and was revealed when he faced the Philistine giant, Goliath.
David said these words to Goliath.     
Then David said to the Philistine, 'You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the G-d of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. 'This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a G-d in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord's and He will give you into our hands.' 1 Samuel 17:45-46
I ask you, who have the Saudi's taunted in declaring to the world their Arab Plan? They have taunted the G-d of David, our G-d; the G-d of Israel who is the Lord of Hosts.
David went into this battle against Goliath because the enemies of the G-d of Israel were taunting his G-d. David declared, 'I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines to the birds of the sky and wild beasts, that all the earth may know that there is a G-d in Israel.'
David is declaring to Goliath and the world the outcome of the battle before it is fought! David, by faith believed he would prevail over Goliath because he came into this battle against Goliath not in his name, not in his strength, rather in the name and power of the Lord of Hosts, the G-d of Israel. David's actions revealed what he believed about his G-d!
By contrast, our leaders are weak and powerless because unlike David they are coming into battles today in their own names and in their own strength, not in the name and strength of the Lord of Hosts. They are operating in their own strength rather than in the unlimited power and strength of the G-d of Israel.
The actions of Israel's current leaders during the 2nd Lebanon war and afterwards reveal what they believe about the G-d of Israel – nothing!
David went into the battle for one specific reason – 'that all the earth may know that there is a G-d in Israel.' He acted on faith in His G-d, and he prevailed over Goliath.
Ask yourself, what is the reason our leaders are going into this battle today? Is it not their declared plan to surrender Judea, Samaria, and east Jerusalem and the creation of a Palestinian State? Sadly, it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with 'all the earth knowing there is a G-d in Israel.' This is why our leaders have lost the battle before it is fought and our enemies now believe they can triumph over us through political concessions or by war!A Lesson from the Life of King David
David had been anointed king in Judah, but the other tribes followed Ishbosheth, Saul's son. Abner, Saul's chief captain, resolved to lead the tribes of Israel to submit to David, the G-d- appointed king and to unite the tribes of Israel into one nation.
Abner, spoke to the elders of Israel,
 'Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you: now then do it!' For the Lord has spoken of David, saying, 'By the hand of My servant David I will save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.'
2 Samuel 3:17-18
As Abner said, 'now then do it; so they did it.' They anointed David a second time now over all Israel.
Before David became king over all Israel he was king over Judah, and there was a divided kingdom; Judah faithful to G-d's chosen king, while the northern kingdom of Israel still clung to the king of its own choosing. As a result the nation was divided against itself and had no power to conquer its enemies – a clear picture of a divided heart!
Today, there is a longing desire throughout all of the people of Israel for a better state: Many are saying what was said during the days of David, 'Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you.'
There was a time when David had conquered the Philistines and all Israel believed in him, but later they became deceived and were led astray. Abner appealed to their knowledge of G-d's will, that David must rule the entire nation.
Abner said, 'Hath the Lord not spoken saying, 'By the hand of My servant David I will save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.'
Abner appealed to G-d's promise and the people believed he would save Israel from the hand of their enemies. Once David reigned over every corner of the land he led a united people from victory to victory over their enemies.
This is what our returning to G-d will do for Israel today. This is what Rabbi Eliyahu called Israel to do last week. This is what our Lord spoke through King Solomon that we must do in 2 Chronicles. We must repent and return to G-d – then He will act on our behalf.
'Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you: now then do it!' This is the key for today, 'Do it now!'
No matter the state of our corruption, our state of faithlessness, or how sad and divided we have become; no matter how hopeless the circumstances may appear, if we turn back to our G-d now and repent, He will hear our prayers, cleans us of our sins, and heal our land!
There is a moment – this moment as a nation where we have a choice to either turn back to G-d, or to continue on the path of faithlessness and trusting in Presidents, Prime Ministers, Road Maps, Politicians, and religious leaders
We must turn back to G-d now, and turn away from the ways and wisdom of men. The only way to attain this is to begin at once. No act of faith can be in vain, each moment our G-d is whispering saying, 'Do it now!'
O G-d, why have You rejected us forever?
Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?
Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old,
Which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance;
And this Mount Zion, where You have dwelt. Psalm 74:1-2
