October 22, 2006A Jerusalem city councilwoman has expressed outrage that the international gay pride parade is scheduled to be held in Jerusalem on the very day marking the beginning of the Nazi Holocaust against the Jews - the date known as Crystal Night.Councilwoman Mina Fenton of the National Religious Party said holding the parade at any time is a disgrace, but that the selection of November 10 "is an insult to the Holocaust survivors."Fenton noted that the gay community had rejected the idea of holding the parade on November 4, the anniversary of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, but in hypocritical fashion had no problem with offending the more religious and conservative sectors of society by identifying with the Holocaust. She also pointed out the authorities regularly refuse to allow groups of Jews and Christians atop Jerusalem's Temple Mount for fear of offending the Muslims, but ignore the fact that the vast majority of Israelis are offended by the lewd public behavior of the homosexuals during these parades.
