JERUSALEM – An international foundation is seeking to gather Jewish descendants of King David, the second biblical king of Israel, for a reunion next year in Jerusalem aimed at fostering Jewish unity. "King David was the first and essentially the only king of Israel to unite all of the Jewish people under one kingdom," said Susan Roth, CEO and founder of the Eshet Chayil Foundation, a group that sponsors Jewish charitable organizations and promotes Jewish education. "In these times of conflict and divisiveness it is very fitting to make a public expression of unity, a demonstration to show it is time for the Jewish people to be joined together while common enemies from around the world once again seek our destruction," Roth said. Roth also founded the Davidic Dynasty, which is sponsored by the Eshet Chayil Foundation and seeks to promote awareness about Jewish history and Jewish ties to the land of Israel through the life and leadership of King David. The Dynasty is holding a launch dinner in New York this week ahead of a larger conference and a first-ever reunion of Davidic descendants in Israel in May 2007. The dinner honors prominent descendants of King David ... more »

The European Union will acknowledge Tuesday that nuclear talks with Iran have failed and support a return to the UN Security Council to prepare sanctions, according to a draft document seen by AFP.Draft conclusions from Tuesday's meeting of European foreign ministers said that the Union now believes that "Iran's continuation of enrichment-related activities has left the EU no choice" but to return to the United Nations. The ministers express "deep concern" that Iran has not yet suspended its enrichment-related and reprocessing activities as required by the International Atomic Energy Agency -- the UN nuclear watchdog -- and a UN resolution.EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana has led EU talks aimed at encouraging Iran to accept political and economic incentives in exchange for suspending uranium enrichment and will brief the ministers at their meeting in Luxembourg. An EU diplomat said that there would be no discussion on what form any UN sanctions might take.Major world powers have been debating sanctions to slap on Iran for ignoring an August 31 UN deadline to suspend uranium enrichment, which Washington and others fear could be subverted to produce fissile material for nuclear weapons. more »

October 16, 2006 For those of us engaged in the struggle to inform America about Radical Islam's menacing threat to our homeland, we've encountered numerous obstacles along the way. Most challenging has been the mainstream media's imposition of virtually impenetrable roadblocks - obstacles implemented to prevent us from reaching out to fellow citizens who share our concerns for national security and the safety of future generations. Fortunately, we've discovered alternative means to circumvent those barriers. In the process, we also learned how to deal effectively with detractors and maneuver in an environment best described as "PC gone wild." But bar none, the greatest challenge currently facing us, and placing our nation in harm's way, is citizens’ apathy. Sustained periods of uncertainty, especially when a nation is at war, should give rise to greater concern amongst the populace. We are currently engaged in a struggle for our very existence yet, astoundingly, few seem to take note or even care. This is true in nearly every case except, of course, for our Islamist enemies who are poised to benefit from our indifference. The struggle against Islamofascism is clearly being lost on the home front. Consider the following: There are over ... more »

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- North Korea has completed a series of missile
launches that some analysts believe was meant to test a nuclear command
and control system for Iran.
Western intelligence analysts said the North Korean missile launches on July 4 and 5 did not seem connected to Pyongyang's ballistic missile program. The analysts pointed to the aborted flight of the Taepo Dong-2, meant to have a range of up to 5,000 kilometers. Instead, the North Korean launch of seven missiles appeared designed to demonstrate a command and control system. The analysts pointed to the presence of at least 11 senior Iranian engineers at the launch pad at Taepo Dong. "The development of Taepo Dong-2 is conducted jointly with Iran, and it is possible China's technology is used in the development of the Taepo Dong-2 engine," South Korea's Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security said. WASHINGTON – Another Pakistani journalist is reporting receiving
another threat – this one from a senior Taliban leader – warning all
Muslims to leave the U.S. in anticipation of a major terrorist attack
before the end of Ramadan.
The head of the Islamabad-based al-Quds Center reported receiving an audio message from Mullah Masoom Afghani urging U.S. Muslims to get out of the country "because Allah's punishment would fall on America in the month of Ramadan." Muslims are observing Ramadan this year Sept. 24 to Oct. 23. Jamal Ismail is the journalist who received the message. He formerly worked for al-Jazeera. He told the News of Pakistan that he received a phone call Oct. 5 from Afghani. "Afghani said he was speaking from somewhere in Kandahar province," reported Ismail. "In it, he advised Muslim residents of America to get out to escape harm because the U.S. could face big attacks in the month of Ramadan." Ismail said it was the first time Afghani, who is head of the pro-Taliban cleric's consultative council and former ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan, had ever sent such a message. "Afghani didn't say that it was a dream," recalled Ismail. "It appeared that he strongly believed ... more »

BBC News, Washington A new book by a former US official says President Bush's top political advisers privately ridiculed evangelical leaders, while publicly embracing them. David Kuo says the aides recognised the religious leaders' political use in securing election victories. The White House has denied the claims by Mr Kuo, a former official in the Faith-Based Initiatives programme. The Republican party is concerned the allegations may harm its standing in next month's mid-term elections. 'Alarm bells ringing' With just weeks to go before what promised to be highly competitive congressional elections, Republicans can ill afford to lose the support of their evangelical Christian base. These are people who are friends of many of us in the White House - you don't talk about friends that way White House spokesman Tony Snow So the allegations made in David Kuo's book have set alarm bells ringing in the White House. The former official alleges senior aides to the president described the evangelical leaders in private as "nuts" and "goofy", while acknowledging their political use in securing election wins. White House spokesman Tony Snow denied the accusations, saying: "These are people who are friends of many of us in the White ... more » |
