Dozens of armed gunmen from al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades storm Nablus apartment where terror group holds kidnapped US citizen Michael Leighton Phillips; American youth freed, taken to home of PLO Executive Committee member Ali Waked Dozens of armed gunmen from the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades stormed the Nablus apartment where kidnapped US citizen Michael Leighton Phillips was being held and freed the American youth. A senior al-Aqsa member who took part in the operation told Ynet that Phillips, who was held for 24 hours, was found tied up in the apartment; according to him, one of the kidnappers agreed to disclose the location of the apartment in return for a guarantee that he would not be harmed. The al-Aqsa member added that the kidnappers’ trail leads to Gaza and that they acted on behalf of a known terror group; he refused to name the organization. However, Palestinian Legislative Council member Jamal Tirawi, who oversaw the efforts to release Phillips, blamed elements in Gaza for the kidnapping, particularly the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC).According to Tirawi, the incident was part of the security-related anarchy organized by Interior Minister Said Siam. View Article  Thousands pray for kidnapped soldiers at Western Wall

Masses turn out for prayers at Western Wall for traditional priestly blessing on Sukkot. Psalms said for wounded and kidnapped soldiers alike Neta Sela Tens of thousands of worshippers showed up at the Western Wall in Jerusalem Monday to participate in the traditional priestly blessing. The morning prayers of Sukkot were held with the Chief Rabbis of Israel Rabbi Shlomo Amar and Rabbi Yonah Metzger in attendance. Following the prayers, the chief rabbis held a special prayer and recited psalms for the speedy recovery of those injured in the war and the return of the kidnapped soldiers. Afterwards, the custom of visiting one's rabbi in the sukka in the Western Wall complex, and the rabbi's welcomed the masses.

The women's section for prayer was smaller than usual this year because of work being done in the area. The division between the men's section was moved over to make more room for the room, but this still was not sufficient. There are hopes that next year, work will be done to improve the situation.

By Ari Rabinovitch JERUSALEM (Reuters) - More than 5,000 evangelical Christians, including believers from as far afield as Congo and New Zealand, marched through Jerusalem on Tuesday to voice their support for Zionism and the state of Israel. The event, organized by a group known as the International Christian Embassy of Israel, was the latest trip to the Holy Land by what are dubbed Christian Zionists, whose avid support for Israel has angered some Christian bishops and the Vatican. "I am here to show my love and support for the people of Israel," said Mpoy Muambi, a pastor from the Democratic Republic of Congo, whose thick maroon-wool suit left him looking slightly out of place in Jerusalem's searing sun. Christian Zionists form a growing part of the pro-Israel lobby in the United States, the Jewish state's main ally. They believe the return of Jews to the Holy Land and establishment of Israel are proof of God's promises to biblical patriarchs. In recent years, Christian Zionist groups in the United States have even provided money for social and educational groups in Israel, and have actively promoted its politics. Some customers are willing to have microchip implants as a means of paying in stores, a report out today says.
Teenagers are more open to the idea of having a high-tech shopping experience, the Tomorrow's Shopping World report suggests.
Around 8 per cent of 13 to 19-year-olds were open to the idea of microchip implants while 16 per cent wanted trolleys to be fitted with SatNav systems.
This compared to just 5 per cent and 12 per cent respectively for adults asked the same questions. Two thirds of teenagers and 62 per cent of adults questioned for grocery think tank IGD's report wanted self-scanning systems at shop check-outs
Some 7 per cent of people in both age groups were willing to use biometric iris or retina recognition payment systems.
On a more low-tech note, 61 per cent of adults and 57 per cent of teenagers wanted staff to pack their bags in shops.
And a "cashless society" is not expected to have materialised within the next decade.
The report says 39 per cent of teenage respondents and 30 per cent of adults said they would still be using cash in 10 year's time.
