Drama in Israel… Suspicions that PM Sharon's Gaza pullout plan, which
radically contradicts his previous world-view, was concocted to evade
corruption charges, were aired months ago by Israel's former Deputy
Education Minister Zvi Hendel, a Gush Katif resident.
Two top-notch Israeli reporters recently confirmed these suspicions.
The bombshell was dropped on the Israeli public in a prime time Israeli
TV talk show and aired 15 June. Here is a link to the relevant item in
the TV show. You will see and hear the two reporters, Raviv Druker
(Israel Channel 10 TV) and Ofer Shelach (Yediot Ahronot, Israel's
largest daily) being hosted by veteran TV host Nissim Mishal. The two
excitedly summarize evidence published in their recent book, according
to which the Sharon's disengagement plan was concocted for no better
reason than evasion of devastating corruption charges.

Over 14,000 police officers have been trained so far for their role in
implementing the disengagement plan, Israel Police Inspector General
Moshe Karadi announced Monday during a meeting of the Ministerial
Disengagement Committee headed by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
Karadi revealed that a special unit has also been set up in cooperation with the State Prosecutor's Office, to investigate anyone who attempts to disturb the peace. Ministers received briefing on the main missions for the police during the pullout period. Missions include evacuating residents, preventing disturbances around the country, increasing presence in and around Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, providing security for people who have been threatened, securing government institutions, maintaining public security, all in addition to routine duties. In
1975 the United States Postal Department issued a stamp honoring a man
named Haym Salomon for his contribution to the cause of the American
Revolution. This stamp was uniquely printed on the front and the back.
On the glue side of the stamp, the following words were printed in
pale, green ink. “Financial Hero - Businessman and broker Haym Salomon
was responsible for raising most of the money needed to finance the
American Revolution and later to save the new nation from collapse.” I
personally have one of these stamps. Historians who have studied the
story of Haym Salomon all agree that without his “contribution to the
cause” there would be no America today.Haym Salomon bought and sold financial papers to raise money for Robert Morris who was the Superintendent of Finance for the Continental Congress. He believed that America would be a safe haven for the Jews. But this son of a rabbi, also believed that one day in the future, Jerusalem would rise from the dust, the Jews would return to their ancient homeland, and Israel and Jerusalem would once again be the home of the wandering Jew. Salomon determined to do all that he could to finance the Revolution so that America could survive until that future time when his people would once again fill the streets of Jerusalem. ![]()
Jewish symbol in the American dollar.
The "Great Seal" itself was commissioned by Congress in 1776 and adopted six years later, but during this time George Washington was busy fighting the war. The designing committee, which included Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, did not include Washington. Nor did Washington become president until seven years after this seal had been adopted, so it's questionable that he would have had any input. The thirteen stars, representing the 13 original states, do indeed form the Star of David (also known as "Solomon's seal"). Exactly why, I don't know. In general, though, it's clear that Franklin and Jefferson had "biblical" motif in mind, as their original draft of the Great Seal showed "rays from a Pillar of Fire in the Cloud, expressive of the divine Presence and Command, beaming on Moses." Matthew Gutman, THE JERUSALEM POST
Settler leaders and rabbis met in the Gush Katif settlement bloc Monday morning to hammer out a code of conduct meant to put the brakes on an anti-disengagement struggle that appears to be careening out of control. The declaration follows a rash of violence both in Gush Katif and in road protests across Israel in the past week – a contagion that settlement leaders fear could critically weaken their campaign against the government's planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the northern West Bank later this summer. MK Effie Eitam, for years a partner in secular-religious dialogue, spearheaded the code of conduct which calls for a prohibition on any type of violence, physical or verbal, a principled stance against soldiers' refusal to carry out orders, and a call to collect settlers' weapons before the disengagement, he said Monday afternoon. Kenneth Timmerman, THE JERUSALEM POST
The Iranian regime's new hard-line president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, wasted no time in putting the world on notice as to the Islamic Republic's nuclear intentions. In his initial press conference after his victory against billionaire cleric Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani in a clearly rigged election, the new president reasserted Iran's "right" to nuclear technology, and said negotiations with the Europeans would continue "while preserving our national interests and insistence on the right of the Iranian nation to use nuclear energy." The Europeans have been urging Iran to give up its uranium enrichment and heavy water programs, since the nuclear materials they produce can be used for energy or weapons. But instead of convincing Teheran that it will pay a price for non-compliance, the E-3 (France, Germany and the UK) have offered a basket of enticements, from membership in the World Trade Organization to enhanced technology exchange.
