View Article  Britain calls for independent EU competition watchdog
20.04.2005 - 09:59 CET | By Lucia Kubosova

The British Chancellor has called for a major reform of the EU's competition policy, with a new independent authority to watch over investigations in key areas.
In today's (20 April) interview with the Financial Times, Gordon Brown said the Labour business election manifesto - to be published next week - would call for European competition policy to be set independently of any political influence, and focused on driving up competition.

The European Union has steadily moved forward in its attempt to unite Europe politically and economically. It has succeeded in unifying and strengthening its economic market, creating a common currency, and establishing both a European legislative and judicial system. It has been suggested by some that the European Union may be the revived Roman Empire. Thus it is interesting to note that the introduction of the Euro is the first time since the days of Caesar and the Roman Empire that Europe has had a common currency, others have tried, most notably Napoleon Bonaparte, but none were successful.

by Beth Goodtree
Being fairly non-religious, I believe on alternate days in an actively participating G-d and on the others I believe in A G-d who merely created everything and then took off on a permanent vacation. But I do know enough to recognize a pattern when I see one. And I am seeing a pattern of natural disasters that seemed deliberately aimed at some of the main population centers of Islam.
There is a very good website, which I check out twice daily, that lists all earthquakes around the world. It even gives a map for those of us who can't tell latitude from attitude and longitude from long underwear. It's run by the US Geological Survey and can be found here: http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/bulletin. There are also several good sites that provide daily updates of natural disasters, including earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes and the like. I check those out on a daily basis too. I've been doing it since I became computer literate, in 2000.

Debka is reporting on the "Secret war of the security services against the Dirty Dozen", a dangerous new development in the "Expel the Jews” campaign.

Quoting a recent speech in Gush Katif by former P.M. Ehud Barak and confirmed by their own intelligence sources, Debka exposes one of the most guarded secrets of the Sharon government. With security being visibly beefed-up for Sharon and his cabinet (including additional attack-drones shadowing the P.M.'s car and monitoring his outside appearances), most Israelis have accepted the government's explanation that recent threats by "settlers and extremists" necessitated the exceptional security measures. The truth is apparently very different from the "official version" of the situation.

According to both Barak and Debka's sources, there exists a cadre of 12 to 24 highly trained Mossad, Shabak and Tzahal officers preparing to prevent the withdrawal from Gaza and YESHA, "by all possible means". Government security agencies have dubbed this group "the Dirty Dozen", and warn that these individuals are extremely dangerous and not merely a collection of 21st century Ïgal Amir's.

A prophecy by a 12th-century Catholic saint that predicted characteristics of the last 112 popes appears to have been strengthened by the election of the new pontiff today.

The prophecy labels the new pope "the Glory of the Olive." The Benedictine Order known as the Olivetans has as its symbol the olive branch. The new pope, though not of that order, chose as his name Benedict XVI.
