Act - Bill Wilson
By Bill Wilson, KIN Senior Analyst
Former President Jimmy Carter should be prosecuted under the Logan Act
for attempting to negotiate with a terrorist entity against the wishes
of the Federal government. Carter has stated his plans to meet with
Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, who hasn't had any official contact with
an American in two years. Hamas, under Mashaal's leadership has been
responsible for war against Israel and the training of terrorists to
fight and kill American soldiers in Iraq. That the former President
Carter would even consider meeting with such an enemy against the
express objections of the U.S. State Department is a crime against
every American citizen.
The Logan Act was passed in 1799 and makes it a felony for any United
States citizen "wherever he may be, who, without authority of the
United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any
correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any
officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or
conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof,
in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or
to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this
title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."
The State Department has publicly objected to Carter's meeting.
National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley told ABC that "The position of
the government is that Hamas is a terrorist organization and we don't
negotiate with terrorists. We think that's a very important principle
to maintain. The State Department made clear we think it's not useful
for people to be running to Hamas at this point and having meetings."
Carter says, however, the State Department had not contacted him
directly, but the State Department says otherwise. Carter says that he
has been meeting with Hamas for years. In other words, he has been
violating American law and policy for years.
Carter was undoubtedly the worst president in modern history. His bad
judgment started the terrorist problem when he supported the radical
Ayatollah Khamenei by helping depose the Shah of Iran. Carter is a
friend of terrorists such as Yassir Arafat. According to Carter's
former National Security Advisor Zbignew Brzezinski admitted in 1997
that the Carter Administration supported radical Islamists in an
attempt to quell communism. Trading one bad idea for another seems to
still be the Carter modus operendi. Additionally, Carter’s Presidential
library was funded by Arab interests: Click here:
Proverbs 12:15 says, "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but
he that hearkens unto counsel is wise." And the Carter legacy continues
because the authorities refuse to stop it.
