The United States, Saudi Arabia, Syria and a dozen or so other mostly
"Islamic interested parties" met this week in Annapolis, Md., to
discuss the age-old "Final Solution to the Jewish Question."
It is a question that has perplexed mankind ever since God declared to
Abraham that He chose his second son Isaac instead of his first-born,
Ishmael, to be heir to the covenants He made with Abraham.
The Jewish nation has been under siege for the crime of being Jewish
since Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Solomon's Temple and carried its
treasures (and its people) away to Babylon. For most of the past 2,000
years, wherever the Jews set up a community in exile, pogroms,
persecution and destruction have soon followed.
This is precisely what Moses predicted would happen to the descendants
of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob after the second destruction of the state
of Israel:
"Then the LORD will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the
earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, which neither
you nor your fathers have known – wood and stone. And among those
nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a
resting place; but there the LORD will give you a trembling heart,
failing eyes and anguish of soul. Your life shall hang in doubt before
you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life"
(Deuteronomy 28:64-66 NKJ).
Jesus Christ predicted that Moses' prophecy would begin to be fulfilled
in His era, saying, "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and
be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by
Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled" (Luke 21:24).
Thirty-seven years later, the Roman legions of Titus fulfilled it.
These prophecies took on a darker fulfillment in 1942. Hitler's Nazi
hierarchy set a modern precedent solving the "Jewish Question." The
infamous Wannsee Conference was the first official government meeting
aimed at arriving at "a Final Solution to the Jewish Question." For the
Nazis, this was just "diplomatic speech" for the genocide of the Jewish
race. There have been many different kinds of attempts to solve the
"Jewish Question" in past history – the most-recent being Annapolis.
The Annapolis summit was ostensibly aimed at restarting a "peace
process" that envisions two states, one for the Palestinians and one
for the Jews, "living side by side in peace and prosperity," etc., ad
nauseum. That phrase seems to pepper every speech on the subject from
Brussels to Washington to Jerusalem. Olmert even used the phrase in his
opening remarks.
Evidently, the Muslims didn't hear Olmert's proposed "solution." They
had just discovered a new "Jewish Question." Israel – a "Jewish state"?
Why didn't anybody mention this to them before?
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat spoke up indignantly, saying,
"We will not agree to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. There is no
country in the world where religious and national identities are
intertwined."
The representatives of the Saudi Islamic kingdom, birthplace of Islam,
site of Islam's holiest sites, where Shariah Law is supreme,
non-Islamic worship is forbidden and conversion from Islam is
punishable by death, nodded in agreement. "Hypocrisy, thy name is Saudi
Arabia!"
And let us not forget the Vatican. It is recognized at the U.N. as a
legal independent city/state with full diplomatic status, whose head of
state is the pope and whose territory is the property of the Roman
Catholic Church. The pope also offered no illuminating comment to this
parade of hypocrisy. For the Palestinians to object to Israel as a
Jewish state proves the entire conference is another Muslim "hudna"
operation. "Hudna" is an Islamic code word for negotiating to get every
advantage until your forces are strong enough to destroy the one
negotiated with.
If Israel were not already a "Jewish state," there would be no conflict
and no reason for the conference. Erekat's sudden objection to
recognizing Israel as a Jewish state simply highlights the patently
obvious. The Palestinians aren't seeking an Arab state beside Israel,
they are seeking one instead of Israel.
This whole affair is so childishly transparent that even the Bush
administration ought to be able to grasp it. Remember – before the
Palestinians were objecting about Israel being a Jewish state, their
main complaint was that there were Jewish settlements on their
territory.
Not Israeli settlements – Jewish settlements!
There are Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs. The Palestinians don't object
to Israeli Arabs moving to the territories, just Jews who are from the
"Jewish state" that Erekat says doesn't exist.
Erekat's contention that there "is no country in the world where
religious and national identities are intertwined" was not drowned out
by catcalls and hoots from the assembled delegates – not even from
those Islamic Arab states ethnically cleansed of Jews as a matter of
national policy and Islamic law, all of which are the result of being
states totally intertwined with the Muslim religion.
Instead, they nodded gravely, as if it had never occurred to them until
that moment that Israel was formed for the express purpose of being a
"Jewish" homeland. This all seemed to be rehearsed by the virtual
"Islamic ambush" of the many attending Muslim states arrayed against
Israel.
The Annapolis conference is little more than an effort to appease Islam
on a scale not seen since Neville Chamberlain traded Czechoslovakia for
a worthless promise from Adolf Hitler not to attack the other Europeans
next.
Olmert, like Chamberlain, is eager to get home to Jerusalem to wave a
blank sheet of paper before the cameras and dramatically proclaim,
"Peace in our time."
Olmert, like Chamberlain, bought little more than time more useful to
his enemies than to himself. Chamberlain's "Munich Solution" is
history's textbook case on the dangers of appeasement.
Olmert should learn from history that he is leading his nation into the
same kind of catastrophe. Thank God that the "times of the Gentiles"
are almost complete. Then, as God has sworn, He will liberate His
people Israel and bring a remnant into true faith in His Messiah.
